Kindergarten Registration coming April 4, 2024!
Kindergarten registration for Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School will be held on Thursday, April 4th, 2024 from 1:00-6:00 PM. All children must be five years of age on or before August 1st to attend kindergarten during the 2024-2025 school year. Parents and registering kindergarten students are requested to attend. Parents will meet with the kindergarten teachers and will also meet with the school nurse to discuss the child's immunization record and any health concerns. The transportation director will be available to discuss bus routes. You must bring your child's official birth certificate. The certificate from the hospital is not acceptable. The Ripley County Health Department will be available during the kindergarten registration to print your child's birth certificate. The cost is $25 and they will accept cash or credit. It must be a parent requesting the certificate and they will need to provide their driver's license. This will be available for any child born in Ripley County. Parents must also bring a copy of the child's immunization record. If your child needs vaccines your primary care provider, the Ripley County Health Department, Margaret Mary Occupational Health and Decatur County Hospital are some places that will be happy to assist. Your child will not be officially registered for kindergarten until an official birth certificate and an updated immunization record are on file at the school.

Principal's Corner 👇🏽
March is among us and Spring is in the air! We've had an increase in some behavior choices which typically happens this time of year. Please remind your child that they are still expected to use those High Five Behaviors at school and on the bus.
We will be getting the kids outside as much as possible, but Indiana weather, as you know, is unpredictable. We've had students come to school in shorts and no coats, then have to go to the office to put on pants or coats. Please be sure to check the weather forecast/temperature before letting your child wear shorts.
There are orange cones put out to keep traffic off the blacktop where kids play. We still have some classes that are at recess until 2:30. Please DO NOT go around cones to park and wait for car pick up. The cones will be moved when the preschool come down to be released about 2:40. There should be no cars past the cones until they are moved. Thank you for helping us to keep our children safe.
The testing season is among us. There will be some information going home next week about IREAD. This will be for grades 2 and 3. If you have a 2nd or 3rd grader, please read through this info.
Have a great weekend!
