School Resource Officer
The Jac-Cen-Del School Corporation has an established School Resource Officer (SRO) program for our K-12 students and staff. It is a collaborative effort by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, educators, students, parents and the community in which Jac-Cen-Del serves.The goal of the School Resource Officer program is to provide a safe and secure learning environment, provide a valuable resource to the school staff and foster a positive relationship with the youth that attend our school. Further the SRO develops strategies to resolve problems affecting our youth with the goal of helping each student to reach their fullest potential. In addition to having a positive interacting with the students and staff, the SRO is responsible for the implementation of school safety and ensures that the school meets all the required mandates.
The SRO serving at Jac-Cen-Del is recognized by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy a sworn law enforcement officer and with Ripley County Sheriff’s Department. The SRO has the same responsibilities as any police officer: respond to calls for service, investigate criminal activity, work with the Prosecutors Office and the Ripley County Juvenile Probation Department. The SRO has additional task which include mentoring to students, conducting law, drug, safety and traffic presentations. The SRO is also on our campus to help prevent incidents and crime that may threaten the overall safety and security of others.
